It’s Call To Action month at Wrapp Around.
We kicked off the month by asking the question: What is a Call To Action and why is it important? We spoke To Mogorosi Mashilo from TrendER about how a call to action is viewed by the consumer. Understanding a consumer’s “why” is very important, but often overlooked.
So now that we have dealt with the “why”, let’s tackle the “how”. How do you entice your readers to sign up, buy, register? Where is the best place to put the CTA? What call to action phrases should I use on my website? We tackle these questions and more.
Why You Need A Strong CTA
So you’ve put a lot of time and money creating a campaign only to have zero conversions. You did everything right by putting a call to action on the advert. So, what happened?
A CTA has become a part of the internet. We know to expect it. Everywhere we go we are asked to sign up, buy and register. So yours has to stand out.
A lot of us remember to tell people what do, but neglect to tell them why. A call to action serves two purposes: to tell the reader what to do and to give them motivation to do so.
How Long Should A Call To Action Phrase Be?
As long as you need it to be!
Your call to action phrase can be a sentence or just one word. What’s more important is that it conveys the message to your audience on what to do and why.
The Best Place To Place Your CTA?
Simple answer: where it can be seen!
Don’t hide it at the bottom in small print. I might not get there.

At Wrapp Around, we believe in putting it front and center on all our campaigns. It has to be seen, be clear and concise. Concise does not necessarily mean short, by the way. It means to the point.
Effective Call To Action Phrases
CTAs pre-date the internet. From informercials to flyers stuffed in your postbox asking you to:
- Call this number now for a low, low price!
- Want more information? Call this number now!
CTAs have become a lot more dynamic since. The wording, colour and placement are different, all in an effort to influence conversions.
Let’s take a look at a few call to action examples to give you some ideas for your campaigns.
Call To Action Examples
Offer A Freebie

Who doesn’t love a freebie? This CTA works as it entices you with a six pack in exchange for your personal information. There’s no downside for the consumer. The upside for the brand is that they collect thousands of consumer information they can use to market to them at a later stage. Simple, yet effective.
Make It Irresistible

Even if you’re a search engine optimization (SEO) novice, you’ll recognize the benefits of being able to build 600 backlinks in one month. This CTA works because it is so bold in its offering you can’t help but want to sign up.
They offer great knowledge in exchange for your information. And if you like what they have to offer, they can convert you into a customer.
Put A Time Limit

This CTA works as it entices shoppers to buy now instead of waiting for Black Friday specials. We all know that Black Friday specials are insane, but this retailer promises even lower prizes now! And they put pressure on us by putting a time limit on it. It’s a win!
Make Their Life Easier

We all hate adverts popping up when trying to navigate the web. This CTA works as they promise to give you an advert-free gaming experience. The upside for the retailer is upgrading you to a premium account.

This call to action offers the one thing that we all love: no time commitment. They are not trying to lock you in for 24 months. If you try them out and decide you don’t like what you bought, you just cancel. No hassles!
Use FOMO

Coke didn’t even have to tell us to do it. We were all going around looking for bottles with our names on them. This CTA was successful on two fronts: increase in sales and social media presence.
So your CTA doesn’t have to achieve just one goal. If you can accomplish two or three with just one, then you’re golden!
