Ways to improve your digital strategy
- Your audience – Everything you do begins and ends with your audience. If you don’t know who your customer is, how are you going to market to them? Unless you understand what your audience wants and needs, your digital marketing strategy will not be effective.
- Building on rented land – Unless you own Facebook or Twitter, any content you post on these platforms is not yours. Create your own platform – website or blog – which will be the hub of all your content.
- Search Engine Optimization (SEO) – Website optimization, link building, keyword research, etc. Basic SEO is not complex, especially with the right tools. It all starts with keyword research. If you can target the right keyword, you’re well on your way to building the right audience.
- Attention grabbing headlines – Need I say more? Competition is fierce out there. Your headline should offer a promise to solve your reader’s problem and your content should deliver.
- Call to action (CTA) – A CTA is simply anything you want your customer to take action on. It can be as easy as sharing on social media or as final as making a purchase. Every single piece of content you post should demand some sort of action from your customer.
- E-mail marketing – Build an email list of your subscribers. This can seem daunting in the beginning, but it doesn’t have to take years to grow your email list
- Quality over quantity – Pushing out mediocre content everyday can damage your efforts. Concentrate on creating quality content once or twice a month. Then take the remainder of the time to promote and market what you have created.
- Promotion – What’s the use of a brilliant digital marketing strategy if no one benefits from it? Social media platforms are perfect for this. But promotion goes way beyond a few post a month. It has to be a well thought-out and executed strategy.
